In early 2025, The Houssian Foundation, in partnership with Catalyst Philanthropy, took a closer look at the state of gender justice philanthropy in Canada. What we found was both clear and concerning.
Despite rising rates of violence and deepening inequities faced by women and gender-diverse people, gender justice remains a low priority within Canadian philanthropy. Funders who do invest in gender justice are confident in the impact of this work. They see the ripple effects across families, communities and our broader social and economic well-being.
